What should I know before ordering my headstone?
The most important piece of information to know is the size and type of headstone that is accepted within the cemetery where the headstone is to be placed. Each cemetery is very different with their requirements and this is the first piece of information you need to know before ordering from us. We also double check with the cemetery after the order has been placed.
The following information will help you manage the process of ordering and installing your headstone. Please note that if you would like the headstone shipped to your cemetery, you must make arrangements for doing so before placing your order. The list below explains exactly what you need to do.
A. Cemetery Headstone Specifications
Every cemetery has different requirements for the cemetery, and even for different sections of the cemetery. These requirements can place limitations on the size, color and material of your headstone. Please refer to your cemetery contract; it should state what type of memorial is allowed. If not call your cemetery. We may give you assistance if needed
B.What type of cemetery headstones are allowed?
Example: Upright headstone, flat bronze grave marker, flat granite grave marker, side by side companion, double interment grave marker, individual, infant, or veteran's marker, etc.
C.Regarding a companion memorial, which side is the husband and wife on?
Traditionally the husband is on the left and wife on the right, that is when viewing from the foot of the graves
D.What are the minimum and maximum sizes allowed for cemetery headstones?
A cemetery usually has a range of sizes they allow for the headstone. Make sure the size you purchase is within their range.
Is a flower vase allowed? Some types of cemetery headstones are available with a flower vase in bronze marker or granite marker. Make sure your cemetery allows a vase before selecting this option.
E.Are there any granite color restrictions?
While most cemeteries do not regulate granite color, a number of them will stipulate the color of granite allowed, especially for bronze markers with a granite base.
F.If they allow bronze markers, do they restrict the bronze coloring?
